Monday 5th May (BH) Watlington Station 9am to 1pm – Celebrating 50 years since the station reopened following a well-run campaign by residents of the village. A cake cutting ceremony will be held at 11am followed by the unveiling of commemorative plaques on both platforms.
Saturday 28th June Visit to Hornsey Depot 11am – A guided tour of this important facility where our Fen Line trains are serviced and maintained. There is no charge for the visit but attendees need to make their own way to Hornsey station. We plan to leave King’s Lynn on the 08.42 service to Cambridge for those wishing to travel together - and if possible to arrange a group ticket discount. If there is sufficient interest, we might plan lunch after the visit at a local hostelry. Places are limited so please book early.
Wednesday 30th July Waterbeach Station – Celebrating 180 years since the opening of the station as part of the line from Bishop’s Stortford to Norwich via Ely. Further details and timings to follow. These will also be announced in our next newsletter.
Saturday August 9th 11am Visit to Cambridge Power Signal Box - A visit to the signalling centre which controls train movements between Meldreth and Ely. There is no charge for the visit but attendees need to make their own way to Cambridge station. We plan to leave King’s Lynn on the 09.42 service. Places are limited so please book early.
Sunday 21st September Downham Market – The Grade II listed station will be open as part of the town’s first Heritage Weekend event with displays of railway memorabilia. Further details and timings to follow. These will also be announced in our next newsletter.
Saturday 15th November King’s Lynn - Celebration Lunch and Annual General Meeting. This will be held at Marriot’s Warehouse on the South Quay. As usual our AGM will be preceded by a Question and Answer session with railway management. We will be holding a Celebratory Lunch at 12.30pm but places are limited so please book early if you would like to join us for the meal. Further details and timings for the meeting to follow.
